Shots were fired Monday during what police say was an attempted robbery at a Brooklyn post office. Officers responded to the scene at 1288 Coney Island Ave. Citizen App video shows police tape blocking the sidewalk outside the post office.
There were no reported injuries, according to the FDNY. The FDNY says the call came in at 1:14 pm. Authorities are looking for a Black male with a red backpack on a moped. Sources tell News 12 a person matching the description tried to rob a Western Union on Utica Avenue at gunpoint. Sources say a gun was recovered after the moped got into a collision.
Police say that the driver of said moped was wearing a blue helmet. They also confirm that a person of interest is now in custody.
Since the incident took place at a post office, the case is now an ongoing federal investigation.
