A Long Beach man has been arrested and is accused of impersonating an officer.
Detectives say officers approached Ariel Espinal and two others near Babylon Turnpike and Colonial Avenue in Freeport on Tuesday night.
While officers interviewed Espinal, they found he was in possession of a City of Long Beach police detective’s shield and identification cards.
Following an investigation, officers determined those were fraudulent and he was not a detective.
The 35-year-old is charged with criminal impersonation and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
