A 27-year-old White Plains man could spend the rest of his life behind bars after being convicted of second-degree murder, according to the Westchester District Attorney's Office.
Jared Diaz was found guilty in connection with an incident that occurred three years ago in the city of White Plains.
Police reports state that Diaz assaulted Otoniel Guzman-Desdicho, a 38-year-old man, by punching and kicking him in the head more than 30 times. The victim, who was known to Diaz, was declared brain dead at the hospital following the attack.
Diaz is scheduled to be sentenced next month, where he faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
