Several police vehicles were seen Wednesday scattered across a preserve near Wading River Manor Road. A K-9 unit was also at the scene.
The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office would not confirm that the search is related to the Gilgo Beach investigation. However, the DA's office did say Suffolk County police, New York State Police and the NYPD are all assisting the DA with an ongoing investigation.
As News 12 has reported, remains from Gilgo Beach victims Valerie Mack and Jessica Taylor were found in Manorville. The rest of their remains were found along Ocean Parkway.
Rex Heuermann, who is accused in the killings of other Gilgo Beach victims, has not been charged in the deaths of Mack or Taylor at this time.
There is no word from officials yet on if those victims are connected to the recent search.
