Hundreds of Con Ed customers in New Rochelle were left in the dark after a transformer caught fire Saturday afternoon.
It all happened at around 3:30 p.m. on Pratt and Monroe streets, according to officials.
The fire forced the closure of streets and left more than 400 customers without power.
As far as Saturday's event, a Con Ed spokesman said a piece of equipment caught fire. However, he said the utility was still investigating as of Saturday night and could not confirm whether a transformer unit was actually burning.
Con Edison crews were still on the scene as of Saturday night, determined to restore power back to impacted homes and businesses.
