The parking lot at area grocery stores was even busier than usual, with many loading up on storm essentials like milk, eggs and bread.
Their reactions to the incoming storm were mixed.
“It’s that time of the year,” one resident said. “It’s supposed to [snow].”
“I hope it stays up north,” said another. “No snow down here in Middlesex County, please.”
The one-two punch of plowable snow and extreme cold not seen in years prompted Gov. Phil Murphy's office to issue a state of emergency for Sunday, starting at 8 a.m.
