There is a HEAT ADVISORY in effect for New Jersey through 8 p.m. Wednesday for high heat and humidity, creating feels-like temperatures that will reach near 100 or more. This is dangerous heat and New Jersey residents should use caution.
FORECAST:
Possible record warmth is possible on Tuesday. A record of 100 degrees was set back 76 years ago in 1949.
On top of the heat, humidity will continue to smother the area. It will feel like 103 to 107 degrees for most of the afternoon. Please be safe and be extra careful in the dangerous heat.
The one thing that could keep the mercury in the thermometers from reaching record warmth would be smoke from the Canadian wildfires drifting through the region throughout the day. This dome of heat will linger into Wednesday, as temperatures continue to stay in the low to mid-90s.
I have some encouraging news for those of you who are weary of the heat. Showers and thunderstorms could bring severe weather through the region late Wednesday through Thursday. This weather system will break the back of the heat and humidity and bring a wonderful feel to the air from Friday through the weekend into early next week.
The humidity will be nonexistent, and temperatures will be below the average of 87 degrees. We can expect the air to have an early autumn feel.
