This summer marks the 10th anniversary of Greenwich Police Department's Youth Citizens Police Academy where dozens of kids from 7th, 8th, and 9th grade get a first hand look at what it takes to pursue a career in law enforcement.
"Most of them won't become police officers, but there might be a few that have an interest and that'll be great," Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey says. "Hopefully they'll nurture that interest in community service."
The five day course teaches self-defense, firearm safety, forensics, crime scene investigations, and more.
"It gives you an inside look about the perks of being a police officer," Greenwich's Eliza Cornelius says. "It's just overall really fun in my eyes."
The camp concludes Friday.
