A 47-year-old man from Goshen has been convicted of weapons charges after a jury trial in Orange County Court.
Justin Babik was found guilty of criminal possession of firearms after a search of his home uncovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun and an unfinished lower receiver.
Babik was not allowed to possess these items due to his prior criminal convictions. The conviction stems from an incident on May 8, 2024, in which Babik was reportedly fighting with his son and sent him threatening text messages.
Babik is scheduled to be sentenced on April 1 and faces up to 15 years in prison.
