An event was held in Fairfield on Saturday and focused on suicide prevention and mental health awareness.

Proceeds from Wave for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, held at the Fairfield train station, benefited renew counseling.

The mission of the non-profit is to help patients who are unable to afford or do not have insurance get access to care. They also provide grief counseling and additional services.

The event featured a car show, touch a truck, food, vendors, kids activities and music.

Among those in attendance were the Stopa family.

They formed a mental health nonprofit called "Love Like Casey" in memory of Casey Stopa, who died by suicide at 29.

"It's like an epidemic that no one wants to talk about. An unheard epidemic. It's crucial that we get this out to all the young people," says Jeff Stopa.
