News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Allan Nosoff says most of the rain for the rest of the week will stay offshore.

The National Weather Service has continued a rip current statement, although NYC beaches are closed to swimming.

After a gloomy-looking Wednesday, and the track of the storm pushing farther offshore, there will be bonus sunshine for Thursday. With the sunshine and rain-free day expected, it will be much warmer, likely into the 80s. It will not be completely dry though, as the storm will be close enough to bring a passing shower or two on Friday.

It will be cloudier and cooler with the isolated shower chance Friday, back down to the 70s. A stray shower can't be ruled out through early Saturday, then clearing conditions are expected for the weekend.

Despite the sunshine over the weekend, the breeze will remain. Wind gusts between 15 and 30 mph are expected from now through Sunday afternoon, with the highest gusts likely on Friday and Saturday afternoons. That will help reinforce the feel of fall, especially for Sunday, the first day of fall. Highs will only be in the 60s.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy with a brisk wind. A few leftover morning showers. Highs near 72. Lows near 61.

SATURDAY: Partly sunny, cooler and breezy. Can't rule out a rogue sprinkle or shower. Highs near 71. Lows near 58.

SUNDAY: Fall is in the air. Bright, feels cool and windy. Highs near 68. Lows near 57.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny, cool breeze and pleasant. Highs near 69. Lows near 56.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny sky, nice and cool. Highs near 70. Lows near 58.
