        Dictionary.com has announced its Word of the Year for 2024: Demure.
        Traditionally, demure describes someone who is reserved or modest in their behavior, but this year it's taken on a new meaning, especially among social media and beauty influencers.
        Over the summer, demure went viral, and its usage shifted to also describe a person's appearance.
        Other words that were in the running for Word of the Year included brainrot, weird, and brat.
