TEMPERATURES CONTINUE TO HEAT UP THIS WEEK

Clouds will gradually clear overnight across Long Island, with temperatures falling into the mid- to upper 50s. Areas of fog are expected to develop overnight into Tuesday morning, which could reduce visibility for the early commute.
Tuesday marks the beginning of a widespread warmup, with temperatures climbing into the 70s across much of the island. Coastal areas will remain cooler due to the marine influence. Skies will feature a mix of sunshine and clouds, with dry conditions dominating. There is a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm Tuesday night.
Overnight low temperatures will turn notably mild and could be warm enough to tie or set record high minimum temperatures at Islip from Tuesday through Thursday.
Attention then turns to Wednesday, which is expected to be the warmest day of the week. High temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-70s. While the marine effect may limit heating near the coast, there remains a chance to tie or break the record high at Islip. The current record stands at 78 degrees, set in 2024, while the forecast high is near 76 degrees.
A slight chance for a late-day shower or thunderstorm exists Wednesday, but much of the day will stay dry with intervals of sunshine.
Temperatures remain above average beyond midweek through the end of the week, with high temperatures continuing in the 60s and 70s. Skies will be a mix of sun and clouds, with no widespread or impactful rainfall expected.
Spring warmth remains firmly in place across Long Island as the week progresses, with both daytime temperatures and overnight temperatures running well above normal.
