Bitter cold weather will linger overnight into Sunday morning. Be sure to layer-up and prepare for a cold end to the weekend. Throughout the day, other than cold, skies will be mostly cloudy, and it will be dry during the day. Around dinner time the hours of 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., a storm system is expected that will bring a snow and rain mix for the Island on Sunday night. Snow showers are expected for areas in the North Shore, expecting a coating at best so not exactly shovel-able snowfall. Rain for the rest of the Island that could mix with some flakes at times before ending overnight. Rain and snow accumulations will be minor at best (at less than half an inch). Next week, plan for temperatures to be above normal for the first week of February. It will be dry through Wednesday, but Wednesday night there is a chance that an approaching storm system will bring a wintry mix initially, then transition to rainfall throughout Thursday. Prepare to bring out the raingear once more for Thursday. Once this system clears out, temperatures still remain milder than normal, but dry heading into the weekend.
