The Stratford mayoral race between incumbent Laura Hoydick and Democrat Dr. David Chess is expected to be close.

State officials say thousands of residents voted ahead of the election, with Stratford ranked among the top municipalities who participated in early voting.

Both candidates have spoken to voters on various issues, ranging from the economy to housing to environmental policy.

Chess has advocated for making Stratford taxes "fairer" while Hoydick's 2026 proposal budget includes no increases in taxes.

The incumbent is also known for her business-friendly approach.
