Voters in Hoboken will be determining who will be the city’s newest mayor for the first time since 2017.
The Mile Square City holds non-partisan elections. There are six candidates in the race. One must get 50% of the vote in order to win.
Current Mayor Ravi Bhallis is now running for the state Assembly.
Dini Ajmani is the lone outsider - she's held positions in the state treasury and is vowing to fix the city budget. Four of the candidates for mayor are currently on the Hoboken City Council.
Among them is Councilwoman Emily Jabbour, who consistently voted in line with Bhalla's interests. Councilors Tiffanie Fisher, Ruben Ramos and Michael Russo have frequently made up the other voting block on the City Council.
Also running, Patricia Waiters - an outspoken citizen who has previously run for several other positions.
With six candidates, it is unlikely that anyone will reach the required 50% to win the race on Election Day. The more likely result will be to learn who the two candidates are that will square off in a runoff election on Dec. 2.
