Cafeteria Serie 54 is a one-stop shop for Dominicans missing their homeland in the Bronx.
The Dominican-owned business opened during the COVID pandemic and was forced to shut down for a year. When restrictions were lifted, products like "Hojuelitas" and Helados bon Dominican ice cream had customers lining outside of the shop.
"People come here, and sometimes their eyes get water because they haven't been to the Dominican Republic in a long time. People come here, and they say it smells like the Dominican Republic in here," said owner Sheila Camacho.
