Authorities say a 14-year-old boy died while subway surfing in Midwood Friday afternoon.
Police showed up at the Avenue N subway station after a 911 call came in around 2:30 p.m.
According to investigators, a southbound F train hit the teen.
FDNY EMS pronounced the victim dead on scene.
The subway near the station is exposed and some witnesses said they got a glimpse of the teen surfing on top of the train.
Commuters said they're devastated that another died while subway surfing. Parents said more enforcement is needed at the stations.
"More cameras, more security, see the children go on the train and get off, more intervention in the school and community needs to tell the children more about the dangers of this. It makes me sad for the child's family because this could have been prevented," said parent Angelina Zito.
MTA President Richard Davey called the incident heartbreaking.
In 2023, the MTA launched a campaign in an attempt to stop subway surfing. This incident marked the second death due to subway surfing since the launch of the campaign.
