President Donald Trump addressed a joint session of Congress Tuesday night in his first major speech since beginning his second term.
The president spoke for more than 90 minutes and touched on several topics, including the economy, immigration, and foreign policy. The president touted his newly imposed tariffs and basked in Republican applause for his administration's swift early actions, while drawing a wave of protests from Democrats.

The speech comes the same day the President enacted 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada and doubled his tariff on Chinese goods to 20%. Democrats mostly waved signs in protest.
A disruption came early in the night with speaker Mike Johnson ordering the removal of Democratic lawmaker Al Green.
The president has made a whirlwind of moves since his inauguration including firing thousands of federal workers in an effort to reduce the size of the federal government.
"Among my very highest priorities is to rescue our economy and get dramatic and immediate relief to working families. As you know, we inherited, from the last administration, an economic catastrophe and an inflation nightmare. We suffered the worst inflation in 48 years, but perhaps even in the history of our country. As president, I am fighting every day to reverse this damage and Make America Affordable Again," said the President.
Sen. Richard Blumenthal released this statement in response - "Touting false feats, fanning fears, and taunting Democrats, President Trump tonight gave a decidedly unpresidential harangue" "Republicans in the audience treated the speech as a campaign rally, embarrassing in that historic chamber."
