Town and Red Cross officials were on hand Monday morning for a flag raising ceremony at Greenwich Town Hall marking the start of Red Cross Month.
First Selectman Fred Camillo gave a proclamation in honor of the nonprofit organization.
Red Cross volunteers help provide shelter, food, and emotional support to victims of disasters locally and across the country.
The organization encourages people to get involved by either volunteering, donating blood or taking a lifesaving class.
"The importance of that is the likelihood of using it on someone you know is incredibly great," says Stephanie Dunn Ashley, CEO, American Red Cross Metro NY North Chapter. "It is more likely that than a stranger that you'd be saving."
