Fire officials say a pickup truck with one person inside sank into a body of water Wednesday evening in Somers.
They say it happened shortly before 7 p.m. off of Route 100, south of Somers Crossing Drive.
The person in the car was able to get themselves out of the vehicle's window, and no one was hurt, according to officials.
Officials say that weather could have played a role in the incident.
"We believe it was the weather conditions, and it was dark and slippery. This is very unusual for the area. We do have a lot of water in town, but this is not an everyday occurrence," says Chief Gregory Lucia, with the Somers Volunteer Fire Department.
The pickup was removed from the water around 9:30 p.m.
