Thinking about going camping with friends or family this summer. Well, news world's Karina Bealles is showing us how to take that experience to a whole new level cat. Yeah, Lisa. Well, whether you've been a big fan of camping all of your life or you maybe prefer to stay indoors. Like me, the canvas experience based out of Croton on Hudson offers a one of a kind camping trip just for you, explore the great outdoors in style this summer. As you embark on a camping experience with a twist, everybody's just really thrilled to have a new experience. They show up and they see that it's just this beautiful bedroom. Sarah Dale Vera and her husband Divino Olvera started their business, the campus experience one year ago taking the idea of glamorous camping or glamping. As many call it to the next level. We had a wish for a long time to help people get back into nature. Reconnect and reconnect to themselves and their families and friends from bedrooms to party lounges, dining tents and more. Each tent is curated specifically to live your outdoor fantasy. I don't think that we've done two tents exactly the same honestly, we work with each customer and find out what they're hoping for. And then we kind of customize is it will do lots of different kinds of motif from a real sort of camp camp. Look to Western to something a little bit more posh. Over the past year, Sarah and Gavino have taken pride in how they've been able to share their love of camping with the community, especially introducing the camping world to many in a new exciting way. The best reaction is when people aren't really into camping. And then they say, but I would camp in this now, Sarah and Gavino tell me they've only rented these tents out within the past year, but they are starting to toy with the idea of selling them in the near future. So keep an eye out for that, that made them not really into camping person, but I came in that. But I'm telling you, I've been inside one of those tents, uh cat and they are fantastic. It is a very popular recreation destination in North Jersey. And tonight's road trip close to home, our Amanda Lee and photojournalist, Mike Roberts taking us to Darlington Lake in Bergen County. We really want to have a place where people can enjoy coming with their family and this pretty much gives them everything they need. I'm Amanda Lee and this week's road trip close to home is in Bergen County. We're at Darlington Lake and we're getting ready to check out the Libby. There you go. There's like a bunch of things here. This is a series of three lakes, a splash park. We have a fishing lake. We have the swimming lake can play volleyball, they can play basketball, barbecue, picnic, swim. People know about this place. People love this place. So that's why they continue to come here. This one is the only one of this size in New Jersey. The splash zone runs in our sessions. So they like to come up here, do the session, um get a little something to eat and then some of them like to go on again for, for another session. It is a lot of fun. It's a lot of work. It takes some strength but it is, it's a little bit depending on which, um depending on which obstacle course you decide to do. Do I want my hair to get wet? Do I wanna fall? Am I even ready for this? Why do they call it a can get up here? It really is for everyone. You're climbing, you're pushing, you climb up a 10 12 ft mound and then you jump off into the lake, you have to climb back on again. So it's a very, very physical but doable feature. They run in hour sessions. We have four regular sessions during the day. That's for people 48 inches or taller. And then we have one session in the evening and that's for the smaller kids who don't meet the height requirement to go on. The bigger one we came for the 12 o'clock session and then we plan on staying at the lake for a little bit and then if the kids are up for it, then we're gonna stay for the two o'clock session. Let's see. Oh, it's cute. It's a fun place. Yeah, it is fun. Everything that you imagine that you can do up in a lake we have here, you can't do that in the ocean. It's literally only a couple of minutes away. We get to grill, you know, be with the family. Everybody gets to enjoy a little bit of everything that's our best kept secret. Which means parents are always looking for fun things to do to occupy their kids on this road trip close to home or taking you inside the Brooklyn Children's Museum News 12 Nadia Gino shows us what discoveries are waiting for you inside. Get ready to let your curiosity run wild on this road trip. We're getting hands on at the Brooklyn Children's Museum in Crown Heights. I would say about 90% of our building is touched so that kids are learning. Kids are using this as an informal space. President and Ceo Atiba Edwards says everything here is geared to promote wonder, including this tunnel you'll see when you first walk in and it's what we call the people tube or the rainbow tunnel. It is in the central heart of the building. Your little explorer will make their way to world's Brooklyn where they can drive an MT, a bus, check out groceries and even make their own pie in miniature versions of some of Brooklyn's iconic and diverse stores. That is a great representation of Brooklyn because for some families they see it or they've experienced it or they might even lay or live, live near one of those spaces over in the totally taught exhibit. Nine sensories are tested through play with water sand slides and so much more then you'll want to check out Nature's Engineers. A hands on exhibit meant to spark curiosity about natural science. We are working on exploring how rainbows are made using prisons and learning about light refraction and reflection. It's easy to see why Brooklyn's Children's Museum. More than 300,000 visitors every year. Brooklyn Children's Museum is now open from Wednesday to Sunday. On Thursday. A popular Italian gelateria with locations all over the world has now chosen a Connecticut City to be its first American location. News Twelve's Angelica Tunno visited the shop. It's sort of a little Italy being made here in this plaza on Westport Avenue in Norwalk with Romani and Osteria, Romana. But now snuggled right in between is its newest edition Oi Gelato. Of course, they've barely been open a month and already gained big fans. Carmelo Chiara was born in Italy and fell into making gelato in 2005. A little little city is from Italy, the authentic way and the simple way I want to make gelato like the original gelato. So without additive, without industrial products, milk from Connecticut cream from Connecticut, sugar from Connecticut. I mix this ingredient with my recipe since 2014. He has opened locations internationally all over Italy, Athens, Greece, Barcelona, Spain, Santiago, Chile. And now they're getting their first scoop in the US in Norwalk, Connecticut. Never in my life. I visited Connecticut. No, I stayed 1015 different times in New York, but I never see Connecticut. It's beautiful when I open here for the first time. Very strange vibes, not the new vibes because I, I was waiting this moment like 17 years. He's been friends with owners of Romani and Osteria Romana. And when the space in between became available, it was a no brainer. They click together and started with other friends for this amazing experience in Norwalk. But he never imagined the big hit it would get by setting up shop here. My friend called me because we have a lot. Please help us. And the part about it is they are open every day of the week starting new and Noah and Delbert's moa knew so. Na.

Hot spot making big headlines for one of its handcrafted creations and News twelve's Marissa Santarelli is speaking with a family business on Arthur Avenue about the buzz around their signature sandwich from Arthur Avenue to the New York Times serving the Bronx for 31 years. This family business prides itself on their homemade mozzarella. To me, this is not just mo this is the Italian culture in one but their signature sandwich. The casa is what's making headlines every day. There's a line to the door for all these sandwiches. Father and son, Duo Orazio and Carlo Carto showed me how make their famous mozzarella from scratch. When you come here, we try to make you feel like you're in Italy for those couple of hours. And with that fresh mozzarella, they made me the very sandwich that landed on the New York Times list. 57 sandwiches that define New York City. I'm very honored to be on that list with all those great sandwich places, but we do it a little bit more of an Italian style here where we don't make these big big sandwiches. We literally it's thin the way in Italy. I mean if you like it, come here. If not, we're not going to break tradition. Carlo tells me they have built a strong community. I think the one thing that brings everyone together is food. Customers say this Bronx hot spot is like no other that fresh mozzarella is the best in the Bronx. This customer visited for the first time he ordered the CASA and from his reaction, it was MTO Bene. So I'm going to try the CASA to see if it's just as good as everyone says, let's try it. Mhm. And he became a symbol of patriotism and is considered a hero of the revolutionary war. Famous for the quote, I only regret. I have one but one life to lose for my country. And this week's road trip close to home news, twelve's photojournalist, Laurie Goliath texted us back to 1776 and the birthplace of Nathan Hale. Nathan Hale is Connecticut's state hero. We are at the Nathan Hale Homestead here in Coventry, Connecticut on the site we have the main uh Hale homestead, which was finished being built in 1776. This is the property that he grew up on and we tell the story of a family on the cusp of the American revolution. Nathan Hale went to Yale University. He was 14 years old. Um He went with his brother Enoch. They both graduated in 1773. Uh Nathan became a teacher before he was a captain in the army. But then the war breaks out and George Washington puts out a play. I need someone to cross over into New York and tell me how many British there are and where they're in camps. This is a time period when spies were not seen as the cool suave charismatic figures that they are today. And Nathan steps forward and says, I'll do it and he crosses over and he's captured on his first mission. The British treat him very poorly and they execute him the following day without a trial. Now, Nathan Hale is a story that is taught to school Children all throughout the country. Starting in July. We will have the flag field for heroes out here. Each flag is adorned with the honoree's name and it's really beautiful because it gives people a setting uh to come and to visit their own space. Come visit the Nathan Hale Homestead here in Coventry, Connecticut. It's a way that we can connect people today to the story of the early American patriots. A little bit of history. That's right here in Connecticut every Sunday. The Nathan Hale homestead is the site of the Coventry Farmers Market, which has traditionally been called the largest in the state. It might shock you. But roller disco is still popular here in our borough, skaters tell us they didn't have the right space for it for quite a while. But as news 12 Caitlin tells us this morning, a new Bushwick space is giving space for roller disco generations, new and old to come together and do what they love. Roller skating can be tough. Which is why roller disco is an art which needs a home. It's really literally saving the Roer Dance community because everybody was wondering, are we going to have a rink again in New York. Xanadu. Rola Arts is officially open to be the newest skating home. It's been built with a lot of heart and it's real people behind it rather than it being sort of a concept. There's live music, open skating, a bar performances, workshops. You, I'll see you on Friday and the original roller disco generation there to shape the new, we got one in our own. And if you've been around tonight, you see it was needed. According to Zen's staff, staple, roller rinks throughout the city have closed down. I hope that we introduce millions of new people to the joys of roller skating. I think it's so good for individuals and it's also good for society.
