Judges have vacated convictions and dismissed narcotics-related charges for 12 individuals in cases connected to a convicted Yonkers police detective.
Christian Koch was convicted of perjury.
Westchester DA Mimi Rocah says after a review by her conviction review unit, her office supported defense motions to vacate five felony and seven misdemeanor convictions.
The office determined they had been conclusively tainted by Koch’s compromised credibility.
Koch ended up serving weekends in the county jail.
On Friday, the head of the Yonkers PBA criticized Rocah’s decision to revisit the cases.
Frank McDonald said the convictions related to Koch had been meticulously reviewed and resolved by previous administrations.
He called Rocah’s actions political posturing as she prepares to leave office.
The DA’s office noted a previous review by the DA’s office that led to five vacaturs was too narrow.
