Fans, families and former baseball players broke the Guiness World Record for the largest game of catch Sunday – a tribute to Yogi Berra at Montclair State University.
A total of 1,179 pairs of players gathered at Yogi Berra Stadium on campus to break the record. They stood 10 feet apart and played catch for five minutes.
Berra, who won 10 world championships with the Yankees, was a long-time Montclair resident and earned an honorary degree there in 1996. He would have turned 100 years old in May.
The last time the record was broken was in June 2017 in Illinois with 972 pairs.
