The city of Newark is asking for the public’s help in finding a local woman.

Police are searching for 33-year-old Janay Ellis, who is wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that occurred on Aug. 29.

Authorities say the incident happened on Riverside Court near McCarter Highway just before 3 p.m. Officers found four spent shell casing and property damage resulting from gunfire. No injuries were reported.

Police urge anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of Ellis to call the police division’s 24-hour crime stopper tipline at 1-877-NWK-TIPS.
