WIND ALERT: Strong wind returns to the Hudson Valley tonight increasing the risk of power outages into Friday

The ground has a chance to dry up with no big storms in sight.  But there will be a temperature cooldown.

While we are in a bit of a lull in the wind now, gusts between 40 and 50 mph will be possible from 6 p.m. today until 4 p.m. Friday.
After a slow start this morning with patchy fog and a few leftover showers, the bulk of today will be decent! Expect a mix of clouds and some breaks of sun with temperatures in the upper 40s to mid-50s all day.
Make sure you secure any loose outdoor objects now before strong wind returns after 6 p.m. this evening. Tonight, through much of Friday afternoon, we will be dealing with that type of wind that can shake the house and knock down some trees, branches and powerlines. Scattered power outages will definitely be possible tonight through mid-afternoon tomorrow. There are still some outages lingering from yesterday's rain and wind, too!
In fact, rain amounts were significant yesterday. This will help the current drought the lower Hudson Valley is in, but it is not completely fixed yet.
A drier stretch of weather is moving in and a warm-up is still on the way for next week!
