Mayor Zohran Mamdani has introduced a new 10-year plan aiming to reduce traffic deaths and injuries.
Vision Zero Reimagined includes more than 100 policies meant to improve upon the original initiative established 12 years ago.
Mamdani says law enforcement will crack down on dangerous drivers with a history of reckless and irresponsible behavior.
The plan features improved street designs, including the development of New York City’s first pedestrian-only and pedestrian-priority districts.
Physical parking barriers and other safety items will be added to more than 1,000 intersections each year.
The initiative also aims to reduce crashes by improving bus commute speeds, bike travel prices and making it easier to walk throughout the city.
