A suspect who was taken into custody after a violent house party in the Town of Newburgh has been released without bail.
Police say 18-year-old Keiyi Bascus, of New Windsor, was arrested early Tuesday on multiple burglary and attempted burglary charges after a shooting on Carter Avenue sent a 17-year-old to the hospital.
Authorities say the victim is now in stable condition.
Bascus was arraigned and released without bail by the judge. Prosecutors had requested bail, according to police.
Investigators say no one has been charged in connection with the shooting itself. They are hoping the victim — once able — and others who were at the party will come forward with information.
Police say they plan to hold everyone involved in the shooting and the crimes against neighbors that followed fully accountable.
Anyone with information is asked to call Town of Newburgh Police at 845-564-1100 or email Detective Sisia at msisia@townofnewburghpd.org.
