Toms River man sentenced to 5 years for distributing child sexual abuse material
A Toms River man has been sentenced to five years in state prison for distributing child sexual abuse material, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Justin Thomas, 40, was sentenced Thursday following his April guilty plea to distribution of child sexual abuse material. He will be ineligible for parole for five years, prosecutors said.
Thomas will also be subject to Megan’s Law and parole supervision for life.
The investigation began after authorities received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about someone uploading child sexual abuse material to the internet.
Investigators traced an IP address associated with the uploads to a Toms River home and ultimately identified Thomas, prosecutors said.
Authorities searched Thomas’ home in July 2025 and found several items of child sexual abuse material during an initial forensic examination of a USB drive recovered from his desk, according to prosecutors.
Further investigation found Thomas had been distributing the material through his Snapchat account, prosecutors said.
