The Borough of Sea Girt declared a local emergency at 7 p.m. Sunday night. Due to the declaration, beachfront and all or any access to the beachfront are closed until further notice. Overnight parking on the east side of Ocean Avenue along the boardwalk is prohibited. The boardwalk is open for viewing and picture taking.
There's also a grounded sailboat on the beach that is off limits, as it is private property. The boat is held in place by multiple anchor lines that are under constant tension and movement.
