With the stage set for Super Bowl 59, it is time to make your game plan. If you are weighing between an at home gathering or a day out with friends, the money may make the decision for you.

"A restaurant or a sports bar, we tend to spend a little bit more money per person," said Marshal Cohen, chief retail analyst at Circana.

Hosting may save you some money, but there are still expenses to tackle -- starting with the set up.

"The cups, the tabletop settings, things like that average around $30," according to Cohen.

Of course, you have to then fill that table with great football food. Between the wings, chips and dips Coehn estimates another $80 spent.

February is a popular time to upgrade your electronics.

"A 75-inch TV today, that's running at about $950. Stepping up to that 98 to 100-inch TV, those are running at around $2,000," said Cohen.

To add another element to the game, millions of Americans are expected to wager on everything from the score to the length of the national anthem and the coin toss. Boxes are also a popular option.

"Boxes run on average about $10 a box," said Coehn. "At most parties, the average person spends between $30 and $40."

Don't fumble there, make sure to find a credible pool and play responsibly.
