Dramatic video of an arrest on Thursday morning shows numerous police officers with their guns drawn taking a person into custody, moments after emerging from a home carrying and waving around a baby.
It was all part of a massive investigation throughout Howell Township at three different locations after police confirmed the body of an adult male was found earlier Thursday morning.
Exclusive video from Drone 12 captured the moments a person holding a baby was then handcuffed at a home along Spring Hill Drive. Minutes later, a second person was surrounded and cuffed by officers from Howell Township and Monmouth County. It was an end to a situation that began many hours earlier.
According to neighbors and eyewitnesses, the entire incident began in the early morning hours outside a home on White Street. A photo given exclusively to News 12 shows police tape surrounding the vehicle. A witness said he saw a bloodied body inside.
From White Street, the investigation led police to Chestnut Hill Road and Southport Drive.
Video from a next-door neighbor shows multiple officers with guns drawn. The tense scene left nearby homeowners unable to leave for several hours. Police could not confirm whether anyone at this location was taken into custody. By 10:30 a.m., the area began to clear as police then swarmed onto a third location. Police then moved a few blocks to Springhill Drive.
Nearly two dozen law enforcement vehicles swarmed the area, and in a familiar sight, with guns drawn, they ordered people out of the home. A man emerged with a baby as he swung the child over his head with one arm while walking to the waiting police. A second person was handcuffed and placed under arrest. Sources tell News 12 as many as four people from this home were arrested, but that has not been confirmed by Monmouth County Prosecutors. All scenes were secured by early afternoon.
As of Thursday evening, the joint investigation between Howell police and the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office into the death of the male found on White Street is active and ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to give them a call.
