Suspicious packages sent to multiple NJ lawmakers
Suspicious packages were sent to at least two New Jersey lawmakers.
News 12 has confirmed that packages were sent to Reps. Bonnie Watson Coleman and Frank Pallone’s New Jersey offices.
Ewing Township police confirm that a package was sent to Watson Coleman’s office.
“My District Office has been closed for the day after we received a suspicious package. If you need to reach my team please call my D.C. office. We will resume regular hours on Monday,” Watson Coleman wrote on Twitter.
A New Jersey State Police hazmat team responded to the incident and seized the package, according to the department. No one was injured.
A spokesperson for Pallone’s office says that the package sent to his office contained a white powder.
“The letter was post marked from TX but had a NY return address. Thankfully, the substance was tested and determined not to be hazardous,” a spokesperson for Pallone wrote in a statement.
The incidents come amid a string of suspicious mailings to representatives across the country, including multiple representatives in the tri-state.
