This weekend but summer on 12 are still soaking in every last minute of the season. Yeah, this morning we are on your block. We have Julia Joseph in Cypress Hills and she's exploring some good eats on Fulton Street. Now we heard about these and now we see you get to try. Yes, exactly. Sayeda and Christy. We are about to dig into this famous deli licious Mangu very shortly. But first, Alex is gonna crack that very important egg and give us a little back story on the dish. Yeah. So the Dominican Mangu is a very traditional plate that we usually all the manics need to have this in the morning in the yard. So the first thing you wake up in the morning has to be there. You get your two fried eggs, salami, fried cheese and you're ready to go for the day. And it's, it's a really filling plate. So like a lot of people eat it early in the morning. So like that you're ready to go for the whole day and it's an amazing dish. It's really full and it's really tasty and it's the best Dominican store I ever came up with and there's definitely, I would say so. And there is someone very special in the back of the kitchen. Tell us about that. Yeah. So the special lady right here is my mom. She makes all the Spanish food every day in the morning. She always makes sure that, you know, everybody's eating good in the neighborhood and just trying to keep it, you know, welfare like me, as you can see, she may be a little camera shy back there but she is. Yeah, you say hi to the camera. So we're gonna get that egg on here right now and dig into this man. Go right here we go. Thank you Alex. Very well fed here at deli. Delicious guys.

On your block this morning in Cypress Hills. Yeah, we've got some tasty treats for you on the menu. Julia Joseph says that she has been just getting every treat and apparently getting a tutorial at the kitchen there. What's going on? Yeah, that's right, Chris and say that I'm getting the roti making experience here at Roti in the run. We got Shana who's making it for us and then Natasha who's going to give us a little history lesson on the dish. So the roti is very simple. We started off with flour, then we add a little bit of oil margarine baking powder. We kind of need it up in a dough and then we allow it to sip and then we cook. We have her doing it and right now she is actually going to give us a little tutorial and there we go quite the process. And how many of these you serve up every day? So 100 100 of these, every day, you could have it with anything, any car and to some people even have it by itself as a meal and you eat it with your hands. Yes, you rip it apart. And go crazy and maybe even better than the food here. Guys take a look. Everyone in this kitchen is a woman that girl power in here. They're cooking up the guy in cuisine here and it's a good time. Chris bring some back if you can. Yeah, that looks really good. Well, this morning.

School right around the corner. Summers on 12, getting you prepared. And this year there are lots of activities and resources available for Brooklynites at one special community center in our borough and News Twelve's Julia Joseph is there right now, Julia. Well, guys, we are still on your block today. And right now we're at the Cypress Hills East New York Community Center and I'm here with Mirabel who does. I'm the director of the Cypress Hills Community kitchen here at the center. And what exactly does this kitchen do for the East New York community? So we're an incubator here to support food entrepreneurs in East New York. And so we have a thriving community of home chefs that are looking for more space. And so we rent them the kitchen space and then we provide small business support and you guys provide so many resources at this community center, where are some of the other ones here? We do. Um We offer a lot of job placement programs and opportunities for our residents. We offer a lot of youth activities. Kingsboro Community College has a satellite um school here as well. So there's really a lot of opportunities for people from all walks of life. And you said last year, you guys placed over 100 and 50 people into jobs here at the Community Center. What's that experience been like for you? It's been really rewarding to see so many people come in with a dream with ideas for their future and for us to really be able to help them on their journeys and to facilitate them as they've been able to reach those dreams. So it's extremely rewarding to see the success and those job launching programs are opening up again this September.
