Stratford police have arrested a man who is accused of stabbing and killing his girlfriend Monday night.
Police say they got a call Monday around 7 p.m. from a man who said he had just stabbed his girlfriend and that he now wanted to kill himself.
They say the man identified himself as 67-year-old Stanley Mulvey and he lived on Griffen Street.
Officers say when they arrived at Griffen Street they found Mulvey laying on top of his girlfiend, Megan McShane who was on the kitchen floor.
Police say they were both covered in blood and a large kitchen knife covered in blood was near the bodies.
They say Mulvey admitted to police several times he had killed McShane, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say Mulvey is a convicted felon who had been previously arrested for a domestic violence incident, in which Megan McShane was the victim in May.
