A Stratford family was displaced after a fire broke out Sunday before 1 p.m.
The Stratford Fire Department says flames could be seen coming out of two windows on the second floor of a home on Evelyn Street.
Officials say fire crews were able to contain the fire in about 30 minutes.
A person was found inside and was evacuated and evaluated by EMS.
Several pets were also rescued from the home.
"Right now, we are caring for two large parrots and two cats," said Stratford Fire Department Assistant Fire Chief Michael Camperlengo.
A cause of the fire was not immediately known.
The fire department reminds residents to have working smoke detectors. The department offers them for free to Stratford residents.
