This was the moment when Newark firefighters realized they had to get out of this multifamily home on Seymour Avenue this afternoon. We are learning more about those four firefighters who were injured. Newark officials say the fire captain along with three other firefighters were injured. The captain remains in the hospital this hour after suffering face and back injuries. The city office of Emergency Management tells us a firefighter fell through the roof or through the floor. That is all four are in stable condition. More than two dozen residents lost their homes. The Red Cross is helping seven families downstairs. They're screaming. I wake up, I'm opening the window. I see her. They're screaming fire, fire, fire, I don't have nothing. Now, fire officials said the blaze began in the middle property believed to be abandoned. It's not clear how a fire started there just before midnight, Friday.

Meanwhile, the investigation into what started the blaze is underway. Our news 12 team coverage continues with Amanda Eustace covered in soot and ash. This suitcase sits next to Kia sis of nor she says it's the only thing her family has left after a fire late Friday night tore through their home along Seymour Avenue in the city's southward section. She along with others returned to their homes to find out they were reduced to rubble. I don't have nothing now, I don't know what I'm going to do now, city officials say the fire started around midnight at 11 Seymour Avenue at this abandoned home in the middle. It then spread to 13 Seymour Avenue and nine Seymour Avenue. The property is adjacent to it. I hear my neighbors they screaming, I wake up, I'm opening the window. I see they screaming fire, fire, fire. I'll go back my sleep. I wake up, I get out the house fire. I was so scared and such in a pan mode. I was running to just grab my clothes to put on the outside. Officials say everyone who was inside the homes during the fire made it out safely. But 34 people from seven families were forced out. The Red Cross is helping those in need. Four firefighters were sent to the hospital when part of one of the buildings collapsed, they were sent to University Hospital and are in staple condition. I was trying to call my neighbor like can you make sure your father and I call the right number? So just trying to make sure that made it out. Now, all three homes are deemed uninhabitable and will likely have to come down at some point as for the vs cause that remains under investigation in North Amanda E News 12 New Jersey.
