A weak storm will bring scattered light rain this afternoon, which could mix with some snowflakes. The storm strengthens off the coast this evening and although the majority of the storm will remain off the coast, a narrow band of snow is expected overnight that will bring accumulations. This makes for a tricky forecast, but here's our latest thinking for Long Island.

Behind this storm is bitter cold and sunshine. Sunday and Monday will remain below freezing with morning temperatures only in the teens. It will feel even colder with wind chill values near 0 F in the morning and below 10 F for much of the day.

Another storm will develop for Christmas Eve. At this time there's low confidence in widespread precipitation, but rain or a mix of rain and snow is possible. Christmas Day and beyond looks dry and pleasant.
