        FORECAST:
Light rain and snow fall across the state this afternoon and evening, which impacts the evening commute with slippery and wet conditions. Travel will be impacted more in the northwestern hills of NJ where the light snow accumulates up to 2-4 inches through the evening and night. It isn't a major impact storm, but it's certainly inconvenient to start the weekend.
Rain changes to snow overnight across central and northeastern New Jersey along the NJ Turnpike and I-78. There will be light accumulations here, mostly slush and a light coating of snow on colder surfaces. Rain falls in Monmouth and Ocean counties for most of the storm until the very end where cold air catches up and changes the rain to snow for the last hour or so of the storm early Saturday. No accumulations are expected east of the Parkway.
However, some light trace amounts of snow may accumulate west of the Parkway in Monmouth and along I-195.
The sky gradually clears through Saturday with a mostly sunny sky and cold temperatures hovering on either side of freezing for the afternoon high.
It turns absolutely frigid with a blast of arctic air that arrives on Sunday morning. Low temperatures on Sunday morning will be in the teens with feel like temperatures near 0 in areas northwest and as low as 10 degrees in most places. This frigid air can be dangerous and some of the coldest air since Feb. 4, 2023 where temperatures hit 5 degrees in Newark. It is important to dress for dry, brisk, and frigid conditions.
The sun will shine through Monday with highs that also remain below freezing.
The next chance for rain will be a few showers through Tuesday evening.
