We’ve been highlighting that the meteorological conditions weren’t coming together perfectly for a serious winter storm. The snow will continue to fall through tonight. Another, more pronounced line of snow will develop and snow intensities will pick up some. It’s possible, on average, 1 to 2 inches of snow will collect. Roads/sidewalks/front steps etc. will remain wet but will not be snow-covered.
Visibilities will drop from time to time. This will be a concern for motorists driving around tonight. Please be careful. Give yourself extra time to get to your destination and give a lot of space between you and the driver ahead of you when you do finally get out on the roads.
The snow will be coming to an end Saturday morning. The winds will begin to pick up. This is ushering in frigid Canadian air for the weekend. The winds will make it feel even colder outside.
Saturday and Sunday morning will feel like -5 to 5 above. It will easily be the coldest air of the season in our area.
Eventually more seasonable (i.e. milder air) will return next week. Low- to mid-40s after Christmas.
Christmas Eve: Possible clipper system with a wintry mix. We’ll need to keep an eye on the weather charts to see if it turns into something. Right now it doesn’t look like much.
Christmas Day: Sun and clouds. Highs near 40.
