A storm system will approach from the west, bringing scattered rain showers and even the chance for some isolated thunderstorms, especially for areas NW of Westchester County.
On-and-off rain opportunities will continue through the overnight hours. Temperatures will remain very mild overnight, staying within the 50s and near 60 degrees for some areas.
The high temperature for Thursday will happen before sunrise, as cooler air will be rushing in with the front passing by during the morning hours. A changeover from rain to a wintry mix to snow showers will occur from the morning to midday hours. Big, slushy snowflakes may accumulate on grassy surfaces, with main roads likely to be wet. However, not expecting actual snow accumulations.
The rest of Thursday, expect slick and wet roads, breezy winds, and temperatures that are much colder, staying in the 30s.
Looking ahead, another system is in sight for Sunday night into Monday. That one will be a large storm system, bringing rain to the region on Monday, but with a big drop in temperatures for Tuesday. We'll see highs go from the 60s to the 30s in a matter of 24 hours. Ouch!
