STORM WATCH: Hurricane Erin passes Long Island with dangerous conditions, potential coastal flooding

Hurricane Erin passes southeast of Long Island tonight with dangerous conditions and the threat for coastal flooding along the coast.

Conditions are rough and dangerous along the South Shore and East End of Long Island this evening at high tide, with the threat of minor to moderate coastal flooding, mostly along the shoreline.
Wave heights are 10 to 15 feet with strong rip currents.
Skies will clear overnight, with a breeze and cooler temperatures, lows near 60 degrees.
Friday is shaping up to be beautiful with sunshine and warmer temperatures. It will be breezy early with northerly winds followed by calmer weather through the day, with sunshine and highs near 80 degrees. A high risk of rip currents and high surf advisory continues, with swell diminishing through the day.
Expect great beach and boating weather for the weekend with warm sunshine and more nice weather coming up for much of next week. The next chance for rain will be Monday, with the chance for a spot shower or storm.
OVERNIGHT: Breezy with clearing skies. Cool with lows near 60 degrees.
FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and nice. Warm with highs near 82. Breezy at times, especially in the morning with northerly winds of 10 to 25 mph. Mostly clear and cool at night with less wind. Lows near 65.
SATURDAY: Mostly sunny and nice. Warm with highs near 82. Lows near 68.
SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and nice with highs near 81. Lows near 67.
MONDAY: Partly sunny with the chance for a spot shower or storm. Highs near 81. Lows near 64.
TUESDAY: Nice with sun and clouds. Highs near 79. Lows near 61.
WEDNESDAY: Nice and sunny with highs near 78. Lows near 60.
