The Southern Boulevard Business Improvement District is volunteering to shovel areas outside of its corridor.

Javier Medina, from The Southern Boulevard BID, says after he saw a video of the snow conditions in Hunts Point, his men jumped into action.

Although Hunts Point is not the area they cover, Medina says this community hits close to home for him.

"I grew up here, so this is always going to be my community, so anything I can do to help, I'm going to do," said Medina.

The Southern Boulevard BID isn't working alone. It says city agencies have been a huge help.

"I've had a lot of help from the Department of Sanitation. They've come out to help us clear large bulks of snow with their trucks, so we appreciate them," says Medina.

Medina says it's been a rough few days in the snow, but New Yorkers will always tough it out.

"We live in New York, we get snow. Unfortunately, we haven't seen this snow fall this fast in a long time," says Medina.

As The Southern Boulevard BID work to clear out this snow, they ask for some grace and patience from their communities.
