Sources: Man loses leg trying to stop carjacking in Pelham Bay

Police say a person hoped into the victim's car just before noon Thursday and took off with it on Wilkinson and Westchester avenues.

Sources say a man had his leg amputated after trying to stop his car from being stolen.
Police say the owner of the car remains in critical condition.
Police say a person hoped into the victim's car just before noon Thursday and took off with it on Wilkinson and Westchester avenues.
Legs were seen straight out of the window as the car took off at a high speed.
The car crashed shortly after, and the man fell out of the car. Neighbors who saw the crash say the man was badly injured.
Police say they were able to track down the car on the Hutchinson River Parkway, by the Pelham Parkway exit with no driver inside.
