Relentless winds make for a piercing feel outside that will continue all week

Cold blankets the region. Could New Jersey be looking at another storm for Saturday?

The million-dollar question that everyone is asking on social media is, ‘Will it snow again on Saturday? And if so, how much?’
Unfortunately, even the greatest of forecasters can't answer the "how much?" question just yet. I'll swing back to this in a second. First I want to give you details on the cold and wind for the rest of the week.
What is with the wind? This question I can easily answer. It's the difference in pressure from yesterday's storm (low pressure) that is lingering over the Canadian mari-times and fair weather (high pressure) that is trying to move in overhead from the northern plains. The two systems are squeezing the atmosphere and forcing the air to move at greater speeds. And you didn't think you were going to learn something today.
Peak winds reached between 25 and 45 mph. The power has been flickering but the biggest obstacle these punishing winds bring is the wind chill. That has us feeling like it was 10 to 15 degrees colder outside. The wind has been so gusty, that it was just cutting through even a few winter layers. This will continue through the rest of the week. Temperatures will be cold. Not record-breaking cold but 10 to 15 degrees colder than average. The wind, again, makes it feel much much colder. But we do have a lot of sunshine.
Let's briefly speculate on this Saturday's weather. I am still in the camp that the atmosphere doesn't favor a big snowstorm. Will it snow? Probably, yes. My thinking, like yesterday's storm that favored more accumulations in the southern part of the state, I can see a similar situation unfolding for us again on Saturday.
There are still a lot of moving parts we have to identify. Right now, I would plan on snow. Accumulations would be greater in southern NJ and lessen as you drive northward up the Garden State Parkway. Stay tuned for more hyper-local winter reports in the coming days.
