Two Yonkers residents were arrested in connection with larcenies from multiple cars reported Friday morning.

According to the Yonkers Police Department, officers responded Friday to reports of multiple vehicles with smashed windows at a parking garage on Warburton Avenue. Several items, including a credit card, were stolen from the vehicles.

News 12 found at least nine vehicles with smashed windows and piles of broken glass throughout the parking garage Saturday morning.

Investigators traced the stolen credit card to the Cross County Shopping Center, where it was used at several stores.

Officers located the suspects in the area and recovered the stolen card along with additional property and evidence. Surveillance video from the parking garage and retail stores linked the pair to the crimes, police said.

Jesse Checkley, 21, and a 16-year-old Yonkers resident were charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, third-degree identity theft and third-degree criminal mischief. Both were released on appearance tickets.

According to documents left on vehicles by Yonkers police, some of the incidents occurred Friday.

One vehicle owner said belongings were disturbed during the break-in, and both side windows were damaged.

Vehicle owners said the garage has experienced similar incidents in the past.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine whether the suspects are connected to additional vehicle break-ins.
