Lindenhurst High School senior Jake Albert is this week's winner of the News 12 Scholar Athlete award sponsored by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
Jake is a science whiz. He's done research at Hofstra and Johns Hopkins, including a project looking at ways to use light to breakdown Styrofoam and then recycle it.
He is also the Island's top ranked cross country runner. Last week, he won the division championship.
He has 10 school records - including the mile, the 5,000 meters and the steeplechase. He's all-county and all-league. And that comes with pressure which Jake admits, can be challenging.
He is also in the symphonic orchestra and music honor society.
        He founded the finance club.
And he's also president of the interact club, raising thousands of dollars with local service projects.
