        John Catania, a Scarsdale art teacher, is being recognized for his bravery after intervening in a violent attack on a New York City subway in Nov. 2022.
        Catania suffered multiple injuries while protecting a victim from a man who made anti-Muslim statements.
        He will receive the prestigious Carnegie Medal, North America's highest honor for civilian heroism.
        Catania is among 18 men and women to be awarded the Carnegie Medal for their heroic actions.
