Police say the Riverhead teen was going east on Sound Avenue when they struck a tree at 9:22 p.m.
The teen was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center where they were pronounced dead.
Riverhead Town police ask anyone with information to contact them at 631-727-4500, extension 312.
