Rideshare driver arrested after flashing gun during Secaucus road rage incident
A rideshare driver is behind bars after being accused of a road rage incident while dropping off a passenger at a Secaucus business.
Alberto Balcazar, 51, was involved in a road rage incident around 6:42 a.m. Tuesday on Seaview Drive, police said.
Balcazar was dropping off his passenger on the 500 block of Meadowlands Parkway when he encountered the other driver from earlier. The other driver worked at the same business.
Balcazar pulled his vehicle in front of the other car and argued with the driver.
During the argument, Balcazar flashed what witnesses described as a large-caliber semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the victim before fleeing, police said.
Secaucus police identified Balcazar through his vehicle and surveilled his Linden home until he returned.
Police found a .50-caliber Desert Eagle magnum handgun with hollow-point ammunition during a search.
Balcazar was arrested shortly after.
"Although nobody was injured in this instance, I caution the public that a simple road rage incident can turn deadly in a matter of seconds," Chief Dennis Miller said.
Balcazar faces charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and terroristic threats, among others.
